Description
A relatively late addition to the Mk1 range; all were originally allocated to the London Midland Region. Initially they would have seen service on important expresses, being marshalled at the first class end of the train, i.e. closest to the buffer stops for departures from London termini, or behind the tender on up trains. Earlier builds were fitted with B1 bogies from new (kit B4K), as shown in the photos.
