Description

Stevens & Co. provided lattice signal posts (the so-called “invisible lattice” type) to many railway companies. Notable pre-grouping users included the London & South Western, London, Chatham & Dover, Somerset & Dorset Joint, and Hull & Barnsley Railways. They were also found in lesser numbers on the North Eastern, London & North Western, South Eastern & Chatham, and Lancashire & Yorkshire Railways, and on the Cheshire Lines Committee. They were also used by all the Scottish companies, with the exception of the Highland. Note however that another style of lattice post was also used in Scotland, so take care if you are modelling a specific location. After 1923, the main user was the Southern Railway, with the odd one or two on the Great Western. The Great Northern and the LNER used a completely different design.

The fret includes motion plates for centre-bearing lower quadrant signal arms. The jigs incorporated in the fret help to hold the sides together when soldering. If you require a shorter post, build it to its full height, and then cut it size afterwards.

The actual size of each fret is 27½ x 96mm; it is etched in 0.010″ brass.
